No matter what field you are working in, your work should always base on moral ethics. And those moral ethics should not be subjective. Because subjective morals sometimes create problems.
Take Hitler for example.what he did was good from his perspective but the whole world stands against what he did. You could say something to be good and other person might feel different about it. That is why morals should be chosen on the ground that it caters a whole community not a single person.
And who teaches about morals from an objective perspective? Pick any religion in the world and it will teach you about morals that have an objective goal. Take Judaism, Christianity, Islam and they all teach you morals that have an objective goal. Do good in the name of God, speak truth in the name of God.
Jim Davies (Professor, Institute of Cognitive Science, Carleton University) how ever says that religion don't define our morals, rather we define them ourselves. he says " people’s opinion of what God thinks is right and wrong tracks what they believe is right and wrong, not the other way around".
Social psychologist Nicholas Epley and his colleagues surveyed religious believers
about their moral beliefs and the moral beliefs of God. Not
surprisingly, what people thought was right and wrong matched up pretty
well with what they felt God’s morality was like. How ever these studies are based on Christianity only and doesn't talk about other religions.
Islamic doctrine how ever differs from the above studies. Islamic point of view is that God has made certain rules and we have to follow them regardless of our desires. we cannot change the rules according to our own will.
To establish why morals should be objective, one has to believe that all humans are equal, and no one is better then others. and lets face it, all of us say this even if we don't believe in it deep down. Because if you think that you are better then someone else, denies the whole humans are equal statement.
Think about it, what gives you the right to sit and eat something delicious when some where in Africa children are dying of starvation. If you truly believe that everybody is equal, you would do something about it, even if you had to go out of your comfort zone because that is what objective morality is.
But a question arises that why are there so many religion if they all teach an objective morality of doing something in God's name. Here is the thing. Every religion has at least a grain of truth, but none of
them provide the full disclosure to truth. And that is because there has
been corruption in the original message that was the start of that
religion.
